As an Engineer 2 in the Purchase History team, you are part of the team that builds, and operates the real time services, data store, and customer facing web applications for the “4 Box” view of the Customer Purchases and E2E lifecycle management of customer purchases including returns.
This system consists of a large scale, real-time data processing pipeline with high availability, throughput and accuracy requirements and processes million purchases per day, including shipment tracking information for these purchases. Customers can view and manage their purchases in their Nordstrom account via desktop and mobile browsers, and mobile apps.
The two major tracks of work in this team are:
+ Become the enterprise wide “4 Box” Purchase History service – to be used by all Nordstrom properties to show customers their purchases. Become the one stop shop for other Nordstrom internal systems that need Customer Purchases – Customer Care, Returns, Clienteling etc.
+ Enhanced post-purchase Customer experience including E2E lifecycle management – More accurate estimated arrival dates; improved tracking of shipments; smoother returns experience; ability to modify/cancel/exchange purchases etc.
**A day in the life…**
+ Design and collaborate on medium sized features with local and partner teams
+ Write lots of high-quality code
+ Test all scenarios and conform to quality standards
+ Develop/follow good operational practices including telemetry so we can have healthy systems and a healthy work-life balance in the team
+ Identify and solve performance issues; apply knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals (e.g., cross-site scripting, security certificates)
**You own this if you have…**
+ 2 years of relevant experience designing and implementing medium sized components of distributed systems using cloud technologies, preferably AWS
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
+ 2 years of experience operating high availability web services in a 24X7 support model.
+ Good understanding of fundamentals – data structures, algorithms, programming languages (one of Java, C#, C++)
+ experience building web-applications, and experience with web application frameworks (React, jQuery etc) a plus
+ Used agile, iterative development methodologies; Continuous integration/deployment
