**Job Description**

An Engineer 2 is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability is at the function level.

As part of the Store Checkout and Pay team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing Point of Sale solutions in our Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and Last Chance stores. Our stores pride themselves in providing world-class customer service, and our applications are critical to that mission. In this role, you will implement features that impact the way customers navigate the checkout experience and operate across various domains including Security, Hardware, and Payments.

**A day in the life…**

+ Design and collaborate with local and partner teams

+ Test all scenarios and conform to quality standards

+ Identify performance issues; apply knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals (e.g., cross-site scripting, security certificates)

+ Demonstrate thorough knowledge of information technology concepts issues, trends and best practices as they relate to the discipline/practice

+ Demonstrate advanced knowledge of specific needs of a major line of business and the related set of applications, systems or functions

+ Participate in on-call rotations providing 24×7 support

**You own this if you have…**

+ 2+ years of professional experience in practice area

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience

+ Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving

+ Experience working on Agile/DevOps teams

+ Experience with Java and Kubernetes, secure coding, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)

+ Knowledge of relational DBs and SQL

+ Experience with code reviews, design reviews and guiding junior engineers

+ Experience with AWS or other public cloud platforms

+ Experience with Point of Sale implementations (Fujitsu Global Store a plus)

+ Experience with ReactJS and UI implementations a plus
