**Job Description**

We are seeking an Engineering Manger to guide the growth and delivery of the Oracle Database Engineering group within the Database as a Platform team. This is a critical role in our expansion of the database platform at Nordstrom where we are working to provide a stable and performant data tier which will supply reliable and consistent data to all our internal engineering customers. The Database as a Platform team provides standards and best practices on database usage across the Enterprise and partners with our internal engineering teams to ensure these standards are followed. The manager must balance technical leadership and people management skills while empowering the team to deliver best in class operational support and data solutions. The ideal candidate is passionate about data and leverages it to drive solutions that brings stability to our platform and enables our engineering teams to move quicker.

**You are responsible for…**

+ Developing and fostering a healthy and collaborative culture for your team that embodies both industry best practices and Nordstrom values

+ Assisting in enhancing department vision and strategies to support company goals and receive guidance from more senior leaders

+ Ensuring the team has the tools, resources, and information they need to be successful

+ Hiring capable and motivated talent/teams that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver solutions aligned with business needs

+ Contributing to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning and operations to drive excellence and lead team towards its goals

+ Being the bar raiser, pushing the limit on how solutions are designed and built, how systems are operated, and how we support our engineers to deliver better experiences for our customers, to ensure both technical and operational excellence for our services

**You own this if you have…**

+ 5+ years of relevant work experience

+ A BA/BS in Computer Science or closely related degree or equivalent practical experience

+ 2+ years leading teams (preferred)
