Managers within Technology at Nordstrom help create an inspiring workplace where talented people are empowered to drive amazing customer experiences and business results. Through broad industry and practice knowledge and hands-on technical management experience, the Manager guides a team of professionals to execute strategies and tactics that deliver desired results.
As an Engineering Manager in the Price Organization, you’ll lead a multifaceted group of engineers who build and support business-critical price management tools enabling processing of millions of dollars-worth of price changes. The challenges include dealing with large datasets, owning and delivering enablement of new business functionalities working with various partners in the company. Your work will directly impact both its users as well as the business’ bottom line.
**A day in the life…**
+ Assist in enhancing department vision and strategies to support company goals and receive guidance from more senior leaders
+ Create training opportunities for team to learn the latest technologies and methodologies
+ Ensure team has the tools, resources, and information they need to be successful
+ Hire capable and motivated talent/teams that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver solutions aligned with business needs
+ Contribute to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning and operations to drive excellence and lead team towards its goals
+ Employ continuous improvement methodologies across own team (e.g. quantifies impacts customer first, waste elimination, increased productivity, iterates quickly, shorten the feedback loop, experience creating relevant KPIs)
**You own this if you have…**
+ 5+ years of hands-on professional experience in delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack
+ A BA/BS in Computer Science or closely related degree or equivalent practical experience
+ 2+ years leading teams
+ Proficiency in an Object-Oriented language, such as Java, C++, C#, etc.
+ Proficiency in building web applications using React, Angular, etc.
+ Proven track record of shipping well-designed systems with hands-on experience ranging from designing and architecting, built for scale and tested for performance. Experience designing full-stack solutions is preferred
+ Experience with Cloud technologies, proficiency with AWS a plus
+ Good understanding of dev-ops best practices, CI/CD, alerting, monitoring, A/B testing, production support
+ Experience with agile software development, such as SCRUM or Kanban
