**Job Description**

A Senior Engineer is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability is at the solution level.

The Senior Software Engineer within the Supply Chain – Warehouse Management is responsible for designing and developing robust and scalable solutions for warehouse management systems (WMS) to improve FC/DC operational efficiency and eliminate defects. This position plays a key role in the transformation of fulfillment and distribution platforms to support Nordstrom’s retail and e-commerce growth.

**A day in the life…**

+ Responsible for full end to end solution and integration design

+ Design, develop and implement software utilizing an agile project cycle. Ensures quality of software and acts as gatekeeper of change control.

+ Serves as engineering resource in cross functional teams dealing with challenging engineering problems or opportunities

+ Provide leadership for solutions involving multiple partner teams

+ Resolves complex engineering problems, collaborating with others

+ Develop maintainable code via proper structure, comments, and design

+ Research and prototype innovative solutions, while providing recommendations for existing system improvements

+ Participate in rotational on-call support role for team developed and owned services

+ Work closely with team members and business partners to solve technical and business problems using technology

+ Clearly and thoroughly document and communicate to team and business partners.

+ Collaborate and provide mentorship with team members for continuous improvement in an Agile environment

**You own this if you have…**

+ 8+ years professional experience developing software solutions in a complex enterprise environment.

+ Very strong experience with development languages RPG IV, RPGLE, CLLE, SQL/400

+ Experience in integration of existing application(s) with third party tools

+ Experience with Manhattan warehouse management implementations a plus

+ Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure (example AWS EC2 instances, S3)

+ Emphasis on collecting metrics to provide deep visibility on systems and services

+ Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
