As part of the customer apps team, you’ll work on our backend services to create a unique and robust experience for our customers. We are looking for developers with a strong background in AWS, JavaScript or Java and experience with Node.js. Our ideal developer feels comfortable working with engineers in other areas of our stack and may even contribute to those areas.

A Senior Engineer is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability is at the solution level.

**Responsibilities**

+ Developing and shipping services for customer-facing applications.

+ Building robust and scalable software.

+ Designing and creating services and system architecture.

+ Helping improve our code quality through writing unit tests, automation, and conducting code reviews.

+ Working with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and translating learnings into a pragmatic and effective technical solution.

+ Leading architecture discussions for our technology, algorithms, and products.

+ Creating amazing user experiences for customers.

**You own this if you have…**

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering

+ 5+ years professional experience in and across practice areas

+ Demonstrated knowledge of developing high volume, scalable services across various platforms

+ Prior experience in technical design of complex systems involving cloud platforms

+ Exposure & familiarity with telemetry & analytics

+ Deep back-end design & development experience

+ Ability to identify performance issues and optimize solution and infrastructure
