Nordstrom is looking for a **Sr.** **Program Manager, Employee and Labor Relations** . This is a newly created role focused on using insights from internal and external sources to develop organizational capability and practices to align our employee experience with our core values. This leader will interact with stakeholders from across the company to drive proactive strategies to increase employee engagement, which revolves around how we communicate with and listen to our employees.

**A day in the life…**

This position requires an individual who has significant employee and labor relations experience, deep subject matter knowledge, and strong communication and interpersonal skills that enables the individual to work successfully on a broad spectrum of programs and projects.

This role will partner closely with HR Business Partners, the Employee Experience Team, Business Leadership, Legal, Communications, and Learning to develop programs and projects that meet our objective of treating employees fairly, respectfully, and consistently with our core values. The individual will be responsible for delivering programs that improve local and companywide employee and labor relations.

**The individual in this role will work proactively to…**

+ Partner with senior managers and HR teams to create and sustain positive employee and labor relations programs, best practices, data and tools

+ Partner with Learning to design and deploy positive labor relations trainings and communications

+ Design, collect, and analyze multiple levels of employee feedback and develop reporting to assess needs and identify key areas of opportunity

+ Partner to drive continuous improvement in communication vehicles and practices

+ Analyze, diagnose, design, and revise people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive labor and employee relations.

+ Proactively monitor and surface current and emerging trends related to employee relations and labor practices

+ Lead internal forums and teams to develop programs and strategies that address both short and long term opportunities

**You own this if you have…**

+ 7+ years direct experience in employee and labor relations

+ Significant experience responding to and managing employer response to union organizing and union campaigns, including experience developing tools, training and processes to support employer response

+ Bachelors’ degree required, preferably in Industrial/Labor Relations, Human Resource Management, or associated discipline or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in a related field or JD a plus

+ Experience in designing and delivering successful programs

+ Strong understanding of employee engagement frameworks and key drivers.

+ Experience in manufacturing/distribution/call center/retail locations nearly essential; some experience working in unionized settings a significant plus

+ Solid understanding of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and employment law Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent public speaker

+ Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships working with senior leaders and across organizational lines

+ Able to handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner

+ Highly analytical thinker and problem solver

+ Proven attention to detail; extremely organized; self-starter and able to work independently

+ Acts with sense of urgency and demonstrates a bias for action

+ High-quality judgment and sound decision-making

+ Strong project and time management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects to closure

+ Confident and innovative thinker; isn’t satisfied with “checking the box” or just pulling out “what we did at my last job”

+ Experience in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
