**Job Description**

A Senior Engineer is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability is at the solution level.

The Senior Software Engineer within the Supply Chain Technology is responsible for designing and developing highly available, robust and scalable solutions for warehouse management systems (WMS) and service architecture based systems, to improve FC/DC operational efficiency and eliminate defects. This position plays a key role in the transformation of fulfillment and distribution platforms to support Nordstrom’s retail and e-commerce growth.

**A day in the life…**

+ Provides input and helps define functional requirements gathering and detail design

+ Design, develop and implement software utilizing an agile project cycle. Ensures quality of software and acts as gatekeeper of change control.

+ Serves as engineering resource in cross functional teams dealing with challenging engineering problems or opportunities

+ Leads multidimensional projects that involve multiple teams

+ Leads and works with other software engineers on design best practices and conducts code review

+ Resolves complex engineering problems, collaborating with others

**You own this if you have…**

+ 8+ years professional experience of software development is required, experience on the Linux/Java platform is preferred.

+ 3+ years of experience of building solutions based on SOA and relational database in agile environment

+ Experience with Java, SQL, Python, & Kubernetes

+ Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka

+ Experience with AWS or other cloud based environments and tools (DynamoDB a plus)

+ Experience with warehouse management implementations a plus

+ BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent required
