**Job Description**

Nordstrom needs your help to ensure that our merchandising organization continues to support our vision of being the best fashion retailer in a digital world. The Customer & Merchandising Strategy team is seeking a smart, motivated person to join us as a Strategy Manager and develop strategic recommendations, support cross-team strategic capability building, and build solutions to support the merchandising organization. You will be working on impactful initiatives that shape the future of retail at Nordstrom and transform our ability to develop customer-first merchandising strategies, curate the best product assortment for our customers, and build innovative approaches to strategic planning. Beyond just focusing on our strategies, you’ll partner closely with merchant leaders to put your recommendations into action and help define new ways of working that best serve our customers.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Create strategies that drive business outcomes by utilizing your strong storytelling skills, your knack for solving problems, and your ability to surface insights from complex data models

+ Partner with Merchandising executives to identify business opportunities, leveraging your knowledge of the retail industry and market insights

+ Identify and manage impact of strategies to the broader organization, including communication of strategy, goals, and points where cross-functional collaboration is required

+ Manage and prioritize multiple work streams across the organization, building credibility with business partners by delivering high-quality results

+ Facilitate meetings and workshops, including prep and follow-up actions, to gather information that will inform strategies and to align key stakeholders on the path forward

+ Manage the day-to-day work of your team and reinforce a performance-focused team environment that ensures everyone is contributing according to their strengths while also developing new skills and growing in their careers

+ Continue to make an impact on the team or chart your path into the business—either in the merchandising function or beyond—and be part of the next generation of strategic and data-driven leaders at Nordstrom

**CORE COMPETENCIES:**

+ Strategic mindset and the ability to sift through complexity to find business opportunities

+ Can set clear direction while managing through ambiguity and translate ideas into action

+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish in a rapidly changing environment

+ Experience building and influencing a cross-functional project team

+ Comfortable and adept at presenting information, providing feedback, confronting issues, and communicating across all levels of the organization

+ Strong quantitative skills and an ability to articulate insights from data

+ Working understanding of retail math concepts and financial analysis

+ A strong interest in the retail and an understanding of industry of industry dynamics

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

**FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:**

+ Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

+ Relevant work experience in retail (merchandising, store selling, supply chain) a plus

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

+ 5+ years of experience leading through influence in complex fast-paced environments with progressively larger responsibility

+ Deep experience in building, creating, and implementing business strategy; management consulting experience is a plus

+ Experience and/or deep understanding of fashion, retail, and merchandising

+ Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related Master’s degree a plus
