**Job Description**

An Engineer 2 is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical, and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems, and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility, and accountability are at the function level.

As a Teradata database engineer on the Analytical Databases team, you will build and support the next generation of the Nordstrom Analytics Platform. The Nordstrom Analytics Platform is a real-time, event-streaming-centric, data platform that provides high-quality pre-stitched 360° views of our customers, products, inventory, customer service, fulfillment, logistics, and Credit. On our team you will architect, develop, and maintain MPP database infrastructure used throughout Nordstrom to empower analytics and accelerate decision making.

**A day in the life…**

+ Support enterprise class Teradata database clusters across multiple locations

+ Achieve workload management and performance management goals by defining and maintaining TASM rule sets and coding automation jobs

+ Collaborate with application engineering teams, provide guidance on Teradata best practices, and enforce coding standards with automated auditing

+ Continually test and enhance BCDR capabilities utilizing Teradata Unity or custom solutions

+ Deploy code changes with our CI/CD pipeline using GitLab and Python

+ Manage telemetry with Teradata Viewpoint and New Relic with integrations to Slack and PagerDuty

+ Complete peer code reviews, cross-train team members, and document what cannot be automated

+ Participate in team on-call rotations and coordinate with offshore contractors

**You own this if you have…**

+ 3+ years of experience as a Teradata DBA on versions 14+ 3+ years of experience with SQL

+ 2+ years of experience with ETL using Teradata utilities in a Unix environment

+ Experience with CI/CD tools and practices

+ Experience with logging and alerting platforms

+ Experience coding in multiple programming and scripting languages

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
