The Director, IT Data Business Delivery leads the teams responsible for the delivery of data engineering initiatives and operations for our key business areas. This position will play a role in the overall technology transformation incorporating new and existing technologies, standards and principles to support American’s strategic objective to become a world class technology delivery center.

**What you’ll do**

+ Ensures the consistent and standardized delivery of analytical data solutions, adhering to industry best practices and data governance standards.

+ Drives the development and implementation of transformative data solutions that contribute to business innovation and growth, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to enhance analytical capabilities.

+ Oversees the establishment and optimization of automated data delivery processes, minimizing manual interventions, and enhancing efficiency in the generation and dissemination of analytical insights for Commercial, Operations, and Corporate functions.

+ Establishes a robust accountability framework to track and measure the effectiveness of data delivery, ensuring that the analytical solutions meet business requirements, budget and KPIs, while actively addressing any deviations or issues.

+ Builds and maintains a resilient data cloud environment that can withstand disruptions, ensuring continuous availability and reliability of data services critical to Commercial, Operations, and Corporate functions.

+ Implements and enforces robust security and privacy measures to safeguard sensitive business data, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and fostering a culture of data security and privacy awareness within the organization.

**Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience**

+ Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity

+ 10 years of experience in the technology industry

+ 7 years of technology leadership experience, including leading data delivery teams in a complex business environment

+ 7 years of experience working in large scale data environments

**Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience**

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent experience/training; Advanced degree preferred

+ Extensive experience in a cloud data environment leveraging data in a data lake

+ Extensive experience leading cross-functional, inter-departmental initiatives

+ Strong background in implementing standardized and transformative data solutions

+ Expertise in automation and optimization of data delivery processes

+ Demonstrated ability to establish accountability frameworks for data projects

+ In-depth knowledge of data security and privacy measures and regulatory compliance

+ Deep expertise in leading technical teams, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects

+ Excellent understanding of end-user needs, leading technologies, and applications

+ Ability to be self-driven with a natural aptitude for engaging employees in multiple workgroups

+ Ability to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisions

+ Strong analytical, creative, and critical thinking skills

+ Demonstrated ability to solve, and to lead others in solving, complex analytical problems
