The Director, Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) provides day-to-day tactical leadership to Sr Maintenance Managers MOC, Managers on Duty (MOD’s), and Maintenance Control Technicians (MCT’s) in support of the Technical Operations Team with focus on Line & Base Maintenance Organizations.

**What you’ll do**

+ Leads and serves a large and complex organization through management leaders, individual contributors, and front-line team members

+ Oversees activities of MOC to ensure implementation of the maintenance program with minimal disruption to the flight schedule, including the rapid return to service for all out-of-service aircraft; expeditious repair of open minimum equipment list (MEL) and CDL items; identification, evaluation, and repair of repeat and chronic aircraft problems; and oversight of NEF and Monitor programs

+ Optimizes trained manpower, equipment, facilities, and funds for the MOC team

+ Ensures accurate data is collected to support ongoing analysis of performance standards and metrics

+ Maintains effective communication between Line Maintenance, Base Maintenance, Engineering, Strategic Planning, Materials, Supply Chain, and Aircraft Routing

+ Ensures development, review, and validation of maintenance requirements to ensure appropriate training for maintenance, as well as leadership development

+ Ensure all mandatory requirements are scheduled/completed to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the planned line maintenance, as well as the safe operation of the fleet

+ Oversees and manages departmental budget and cost control, including forecasting, to ensure accuracy and accountability for overall resource management

+ Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement; provides recommendations and implements initiatives to increase revenue, reduce cost, gain efficiencies, and improve customer service and employee experience

+ Demonstrates and cultivates collaborative relationships across all work groups and teams

+ Establishes and maintains open communication and a collaborative relationship with all levels of union leadership

+ Ensures AA remains in compliance with all governmental requirements, e.g., OSHA, TSA, FAA, and Department of Transportation, through the development and implementation of procedures

**Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience**

+ Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity

+ 7 years of leadership experience at the manager level or above, in an area related to line maintenance/base maintenance

+ 7 years of experience managing a unionized frontline workgroup

+ FAA A&P License required

**Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience**

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; degree in Business, Finance, Planning, Aeronautics, or related area

+ 7 years of experience with heavy jet transport line maintenance, avionics, aircraft engineering, or related field; experience in MOC with a FAR Part 121 airline

+ Experience with In-depth knowledge of the airline industry and technical operations, American Airlines (AA) business strategy, company policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements

+ Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs)

+ Extensive experience implementing procedures and ensuring consistent service delivery

+ Ability to productively and proactively adjust to dynamic situations; experience working effectively under extreme pressure and deadlines

+ Ability to influence others through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills

+ Ability to be an action-oriented and results-driven leader, with a natural aptitude for engaging employees across multiple workgroups

+ Ability to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisions

+ Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, as well as proven success implementing strategic initiatives under time constraints

+ Ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally

+ Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written

+ Excellent project planning and organizational skills, with ability to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple large projects within tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail

+ Extensive experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

+ Ability to work a varied schedule, including different shifts and weekends

+ Ability to travel, as needed
